Play Time

Here's a few pictures of play time at our house. Tummy time continues to be a struggle. So to distract us from all the screaming, we've been working on sitting by ourself. (As in Lucas, I'm pretty proficient at it these days). The dogs are becoming a bigger part of Lucas' world. He notices them much more and he goes out of his way to watch them and try to talk to them. It's very cute.

Oh hey friend! Can I borrow your Tigger??I'll give you kiss....

Where's the Baby??He loves to look at himself if the little mirror.

Having a very important conversation with Mickey.

It's a Man's World

You see this incredibly mushy and ridiculously cute kid? This little boy is a complete "man's man." Every time Matt walks into the room. This guy will crane his body around to find him. And if Daddy sneaks into the kitchen when I'm trying to feed him breakfast and starts talking to him.....just forget about it. Momma, and FOOD takes a back seat. It's "GUY" time.

Look at these two cuties. Lucas would be completely happy just sitting here with Matt. This may not seem like such an accomplishment, but let me just add that he will NOT sit with me like that. Only Dad.

And it seems the whole male race is fascinating. While in California, Lucas was enamored with Papa. And wherever Uncle Ricky was in the room, Lucas was bound to find him and just stare.
Very Cute. As long as he just remembers who washes his clothes, feeds him breakfast, and snuggles him close when he's tired. That's all I'm saying.

California Trip 2010: On our way home.

This was my view for about half the ride home. Notice that the shot is coming from the back seat. First of all, I am not of the proper stature to fit comfortably in the back seat. I am about 6 inches too tall. Second, I get car sick. I mean really, ask my Mom. Now why would I torture myself by sitting scrunched up in the middle (most uncomfortable) seat of the back row?

Because of this guy. Oh and the guy driving. He wasn't very happy that the little guy wasn't happy. You can just imagine all the sordid details yourselves. I don't want to replay those tense moments again. Let's just say that he didn't enjoy the ride back as much as the ride to Nana's house. I think my butt is still asleep and my legs are just finally getting their feeling back. But on a happy note we got home safely. Matt still has his hair, and we haven't dropped the baby off at the fire department. I am sitting in my nice air conditioned home and the baby is catching up on some much needed sleep. All is right in the world.

Thanks for having us Papa & Nana! It was fun. And thanks Leslie & Ricky for hanging with us. We love you guys and can't wait till we can see you again!

California Trip 2010: Father's Day

We had celebrated Father's Day a little early this year since I was going to be working that day. But Matt was lucky to spend Father's Day with his dad this year. It was a nice day. Lucas had charmed everyone at Matt's home word. And Lucas did a good job of embarrassing me by learning a new trick and trying it out in all the quiet, reverent moments. So, he and I spent most of church in the hallway. Kids.

But after church we just enjoyed each other's company and had a BBQ. This picture is of the Jensen Men being manly out by the grill.

Oh these boys just melt my heart.

This is a video of Lucas' first dip in the pool. Now, in case you're wondering, YES - it's June. YES - the water is cool. YES - we still dipped his toes. We're his parents, and if we want to tease him a little we can. After all, we'll be paying for his therapist later on in life anyways....we'll have our fun while we can ;)

p.s. - sorry the video is sideways. oops.

California Trip 2010: Disney Store

This Disney store had to be the BIGGEST I've ever seen. Imagine a store the size of a Walmart Supercenter filled with nothing but Disney stuff. Takes your breath away doesn't it? Me too. I couldn't even take it all in at one time. I kept wandering around saying, "I can't believe it just keeps going". There were so many interesting things to see, and people, but I won't bother trying to explain...it goes beyond words.

But we had to carry on the tradition started by Erin and put as many ridiculous hats on Lucas as we possibly could. It was pretty fun. But since it was towards the end of the night, his patience for it all was pretty slim. Oh well, crying baby pictures are fun too, right?

You're a Wizard Lucas! Oh wait, wrong movie....sorry.

Classic Mickey Ears

Oh dear me. It's Peter Pan. F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S.

Arg! I'm a pirate...and I'd rather be Peter Pan. Sorry kid, no Peter Pans at our house.

California Trip 2010: Downtown Disney

What is a trip to Anaheim with out a visit to Disney? Seriously. But since Lucas is just too small to appreciate the Dumbo ride (which happens to be a poignant memory of my childhood visit), we decided to do the next best thing....Downtown Disney. It is the "shopping" area of the theme park that doesn't require a ticket of admission. There are fun stores, street entertainment, and yummy food. Shout out to the YUMMY caramel kettle corn Lynnae bought. Still dreaming about it...a little bit....maybe a lotta bit.

We had reservations at the Story Teller's Restaurant. Located in the Grand Californian Hotel, this place is soooo delicious. But we had a few minutes to kill before dinner so we went to the Lego Store. I've never wanted to buy Lego's so bad in my life. Weird. But we got our photo with "Sheriff Woody" and "Darth Vader". Super fun.

Then off to the Grand Californian, which has to be one of the most beautiful hotels. It doesn't even feel like you're in Disney Land, but more like a posh resort on the side of a mountain. Love it. Someday I'll find a frivolous reason to spend the money to stay there. Someday. But the lovely "Frank Lloyd Wright meets the outside" theme follows us into the restaurant. There's huge pictures of Legendary stories on the walls. And there's a cozy fireplace in the center of the room. And the food.....mmmm....food. WOW.
We had a good time. After stuffing ourselves with countless good things we were off to the Disney store...

California Trip 2010: Arrival

We had the opportunity to travel over to California this past week to attend the funeral of Matt's friend, and spend time with his family in Anaheim.

The trip down was pretty easy. Lucas didn't have one opinion either way about all the driving until mile 300 out of 396. I was pretty impressed. And his "opinion" didn't last more that 15 minutes.

We arrived on Thursday night in time to see the Lakers' bring home another victory! Matt and Chris were getting excited and yelling. It was nice moment to observe...it was like watching what will be happening in our house in another 12 years.

Friday was the funeral. The service was beautiful and we feel very lucky to have been able to attend and honor Brent Youngberg. Matt, Brett Abbott, and Brent Youngberg grew up together and spent most of their summers running around together.

After the funeral we just relaxed at the house and let Lucas get to know the family.

Sorry that I haven't posted in a while. We just got caught up in our daily lives. We're heading to California today. We had planned to go there for a visit in another week, but one of Matt's childhood friends has passed away and we're going out early to attend the funeral.

But on a lighter note, here's a few pictures of my silly guy and I trying to get a picture together. Not so successful. But still cute.
