Chicks Dig Scars

We've had a bit of an incident at our house this past 10 days and it's been hard to deal with, so I haven't felt like posting much. On the 13th Tim bit Luke. I had to run him to the ER for stitches. Very traumatizing. Lucas was all cool and collected and I'm shaking and crying at the registration desk. Have I ever felt so stupid and under qualified to be a parent? Hmm, so far this takes the cake, but I'm sure the stupid moments and second guessing has just begun. Luke was a trooper at the Hospital. He was fine until they wrapped him like a burrito and started stitching. Then he wailed the whole time. The staff was quite impressed. It required 2 nurses and the Dr. to keep him under control. They said that usually babies cry themselves out. But NOT my child. Nuh Uh. If nothing else he's persistent. Well, to top everything else, I had to find Tim a new home. So basically I was crying everyday since the 13th. Do I question whether it was the right decision? No. Absolutely not. But it's strange how attached you can become to a pet, even when they're naughty beyond imagination. But as fate would happen one of my friends had recently lost his dog due to age and complications. He lives with his mom, who he cares for, and he couldn't stand the thought of us taking Tim to the pound. It's turned out to be a match made in heaven. He loves his new "Daddy" and "Nana" that spoil him completely rotten. And they don't have little kids running around the house scaring him. It's been a strange week of adjustments for our family.

Here are a couple pictures of Luke after we got his stitches out. Poor thing had one internal stitch and 8 external stitches. He's got a nifty Harry Potter scar going one. But we're using Bio Oil on it and hopefully it heals up nicely.

This last picture was taken today after he's discovered poppy seed muffins and is in L.O.V.E. As you can see it's healing pretty good. And if you're wondering if he's scared of dogs now the answer is NO. He still runs up to Minnie and Bruno to give them a hug. And I am so grateful that they are infinitely patient with him. Luke has run up to Minnie sleeping in her chair and smacked her with one of his toys - obviously trying to show her (he does the same to us). And even though she was startled from a lovely state of nothingness, she just leaned over and gave him a sloppy kiss (he giggled) and she laid her head back down and closed her eyes.
